Park Review

This is easily the largest dog park in the Phoenix metro area. It is split into a main area for all dogs and a long narrow area fenced off for timid dogs. The grass is in great condition and there are dozens of trees for shade. Water is available inside the park. The parking lot is very large and the park itself looks well laid out and clean.

We thought this park was going to be long distance from Phoenix but if you take the 202 freeway to the Greenfield road exit you are there. We would estimate about 20-30 minutes in light traffic from downtown. The only negative we can think of is this is a bring your own poop bag park.

I give Quail Run Park in Mesa an A- grade. Most dog parents (owners) are very courteous and watchful of their dogs and clean up after them and do well in controlling them when the need arises which isn't too often. It is unfortunate that it is the only dog park in Mesa given the city's size. They do well with upkeep of the grass.
The thing that makes my grade an A- instead of + is their are only two water fountains, one for the timid area and one in the large section But both by the entrance. they do'nt have a cooling system. If fountains could be added on the far ends of the park and cooling systems installed in them then I'd grade the park A++.

We would grade this park an A-. The size of this park is amazing. It really gives dogs tons of room to run out all their energy or chase a ball. The grass is nice and green and the park is well lit in the evenings.
We were forced to leave the park on one occasion due to an irresponsible pet owner verbally threatening other visitors with their aggressive bull terrier. But this has only happened once out of several visits.
It's important to note (to avoid doggy disappointment!) that this park is closed Thursday nights. Also, parking can get a bit crowded on nights when there are softball or soccer games. Other than that, a really great park!
